In doing so, He broke the power of sin and death over our lives. This victory tore down the walls between God and humankind, allowing believers to live lives of complete and utter freedom under God’s love and grace.
Without the message of Easter, our faith has no foundation to stand on. Everything we believe in rests solely on the truth of Jesus’ resurrection. The resurrection was Jesus’ ultimate victory over sin and death, a victory He shares freely with us.
The promise of Easter assures us that no matter what we face in this life, as long as we have Jesus, we have the ultimate safety and security. Just as He did, we will rise again into eternal life in heaven by God’s side.
The resurrection gives us the assurance that the pain and trials of this life are only temporary. Jesus has promised us eternal life through sharing in His victory over death. Jesus suffered for a time but then was granted eternal life with God.
We, too, will face trials in this life but end up living with God in His fully realized Kingdom for all of eternity. Our lives here are important, but we must see them as preparation for our eternal home. We must never mistake our time here on Earth as our only life.
The Holy Spirit resides in the heart of every believer, fueling our faith walk. This is the same power that rose Jesus from the dead. God gives us profound life through the Holy Spirit.
Through our faith, we are brought out of the sin of death and given new life in Christ. We are connected to God, and He calls us to live our lives in service to the Gospel so that everyone can hear the message of love and hope that the Bible provides.
In John 11, we read an incredible story. Jesus had three friends, brother and sisters, to whom the Bible says He was very close. Their names were Mary, Martha, and Lazarus.
Sadly, Lazarus becomes very sick and passes away before Jesus can get there. Naturally, Mary and Martha are mourning their brother when Jesus arrives. Jesus mourns with them, but also displays a power unlike anything anyone had ever seen before.
Then, Jesus puts His power on display and calls Lazarus forth from the grave.
This story shows the immeasurable power of Christ. It’s that same power that allowed Him to cast off death and rise from the grave, the central and true message of Easter.
While we celebrate Easter with scenes of spring, `bunnies, and eggs, Easter is truly about Jesus Christ and the miraculous power that made Him rise from the dead.
Not only that, but we also celebrate the truth that that same power is alive in us, those who call upon His name!
So, the true message of Easter is this: Jesus has risen from the grave, breaking the power of sin and death over our lives forever. When we call upon His name, we too can have eternal life through His miraculous power.
His power and presence live in us through the Holy Spirit, empowering us in this life and preparing us for the eternity in God’s Kingdom that’s to come.
