Meet Bud: He found Cross Pennies as a way to talk to people about Jesus

I am a retired pastor. Once a week I volunteer at a clothes closet to give clothes to the homeless and people in need in New Port Richey, FL.

I have begun to develop a relationship with many of these men and women and have had deep desires to share Jesus with them, but wasn't sure how to do that.

I saw the cross pennies and in my mind it clicked this is a way to talk to people about Jesus.

So for the past couple of weeks, I have asked people as they are checking out (keep track of how much we give out) if I can give them a gift.

I put the cross penny in their hand and look at them in the eye and say to them, I want you to carry this penny with you in your pocket and every time you finger rubs across your cross penny to remember that Jesus loves you so much that He died on the cross to forgive your sins and so you can spend eternity in heaven with Him.

I wish you could see the look in their eyes...some have tears...many look like I am looking at the face of an angel.

I gave these out on Wednesday, on the next Monday morning there was a man that I gave a cross penny to, he was waiting there, for when the clothes closet was open.

He said he was excited and said, I have got to tell you about the cross penny.

Friday the police raided the place that I was camped out in the woods and told me that I had to get my belongings and get off this property immediately.

I put my hand in my pocket and got a hold of my cross penny and began praying.

As I was leaving there was a man that probably heard what was happening, met me and told me that I could live in a extra room he had in his house or camp out in his back yard.

Another man told me that every morning when he gets up, he takes the cross penny in his hand and prays.

Having the cross pennies have given me a new and powerful way to tell people about the incredible love of Jesus.

I gave one to my barber when I got my hair cut.

I am planning on visiting pastors in the area and giving one to them and pray for them and tell them when they feel discouraged to take their cross penny in their hand and pray and remember that Jesus is with them.

I want to give these to young people that I meet....so I am going to order at least 500 more.

I know this was long...but I needed to share my story of how God has inspired me to share the love of Jesus with these cross pennies.
